Besides Gold the other important and mostly used metal is Copper which is used for imparting the properties of copper on other metal surfaces. The process is carried out in a electrolytic solution with a copper strip acting as cathode and the metal to be electroplated acting as anode. Copper metals are slowly deposited on the surface of the other metal and hence properties of copper metal. These are also transferred to that metal surface. Copper plating offers a number of advantages, thanks to the high malleability, conductivity and corrosion resistance of copper. Copper is more economical than metals such as silver. Due to its high wear-resistance, selective copper plating is used for defect-repair, anti galling purposes, and in critical applications such as oil and gas, and electronics. Copper also offers compatibility with additional plating and coating processes. this makes copper plating fit for use as a part of extremely durable dual systems.
